Seeking Events/Marketing Intern and Volunteer Coordinator Intern!

Kitchen Commons is recruiting for two enthusiastic individuals to join our Summer/Fall 2012 intern team: an Events/Marketing Intern and a Volunteer Coordinator Intern.
The Events/Marketing Intern will lay the groundwork for our marketing program and serve as the project manager for two events to be held this fall. Marketing responsibilities will include assisting our collective cooking groups by documenting them with photos and articles, tabling at events, and helping to build a marketing and outreach database. The intern will also lead the planning and coordinating for a community preserving event to be held in September, and a tamale party/fundraiser to be held in November. The intern will be assisted by Kitchen Commons board members and volunteers, but should expect to take on a leadership role. Some prior event planning experience is important for this role.
The Volunteer Coordinator Intern will develop and improve our volunteer program and serve as a point person for interested newcomers and project volunteers. Key responsibilities will include managing the volunteer database, designing a volunteer orientation and retention program, developing and compiling an e-newsletter for volunteers, and coordinating current and new volunteers according to their interests and Kitchen Commons’ project needs. The Volunteer Coordinator intern should be a people person, eager to reach out to potential volunteers and help them plug in.
Both positions will last from July through early December. Each intern will receive a $200 stipend, half paid on August 1 and half paid on Nov. 1. Interns should expect to spend at least 5 hours per week on Kitchen Commons projects, with additional hours as necessary especially during event weeks. Weekly schedule will often be flexible, with some evenings and weekends required. Interns can also arrange to receive course credit.
To apply, send an e-mail describing your interest in one or both positions along with a resume by July 2nd to volunteer@kitchencommons.net.
