Story Kitchen Event with Trash for Peace

Trash for Peace is thrilled to partner with Kitchen Commons for its upcoming Story Kitchen event! The mission of Trash for Peace is to provide hands-on, creative experiences that encourage resilient communities. We aim to find creative and innovative ways of encouraging people to incorporate the values of reducing and reusing into their lives, and to see waste as a resource for positive change. We are currently located on several affordable housing sites in partnership with Home Forward, and are very excited to help facilitate a Story Kitchen event at Dekum Court this spring! The event will focus on food waste reduction and stretching food dollars, two hugely important aspects of sustainability.

Food, community, and sustainability are inextricably linked. We hope to open up a conversation–to hear from folks about their experiences and stories, to share challenges and successes–and to make time to cook and share a meal together.

Have any good food waste reduction strategies? Tasty recipes that incorporate food scraps? Tips for making the food you buy go far? We would love to hear from you! The event is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 1st from 3:00-6:00pm–email lauraegumpert@gmail.com to get involved!
